Senate Mobilehome Committee to Continue under New Chair
Senator Lou Correa (D-Santa Ana) today announced that he has been appointed by
Senate Pro Tem Leader Don Perata as the new chair of the Senate Select Committee
on Mobile and Manufactured Homes.
“With a million or more people living in manufactured homes in California,” the
new chairman said, “I am pleased the Senate leadership has chosen to continue
the committee that has served as a resource for information and assistance to
legislators, staff and their constituents on mobilehome issues for the past 23
years.”
“I also look forward,” said Senator Correa, “to continuing
the fine work of Joe Dunn and his predecessors in trying to bring resolution
and fairness to the issues facing our mobile and manufactured housing communities.”
Senator Correa serves the 34th district in Orange County, which includes all
or parts of the cities of Anaheim, Buena Park, Fullerton, Garden Grove, Santa
Ana, Stanton and Westminster and has some 86 mobilehome parks housing about 20,000
residents. A former Orange County Supervisor and former member of the State Assembly,
Senator Correa is familiar with mobilehome issues, having served as chair of
the Assembly Mobilehome Committee in the Assembly from 1999 through 2002.
